Enterprsie application services are the common application resources to share among different application system. The chanllenge of service oriented architecture is to determine what are the proper services ? Many EA effort, thinking in stovepipe, invest significant effort to design the entire architecture and conduct pattern analysis to derive the services, Enterprise architect are unable to identify the service in time for practical use. The other way is simpley asking aroud to figure out what the customer want ? They problems is that it is all depends on who you talk to. The best practice is to learn the experience of applicaiton services from the same line of business rather than investing on the redundant effort to figure out your own. OMB FEA PMO has establish the business reference model and services reference model to faciliate the communication to learn the experience of the others.
