Laborious Effort
Enterprise map is the Enterpirse Architecture effort in a nutshell. It is not just pretty picture as percieved by many people. It is a creative composition the architect. The completion of the enterprise map is based on the criteria that every one in the enterprise can find a place where they belongs to. In the other word, it is always a draft.Enterprise Architects are known to generate tons of drawings by using computere models. These drawings are the out put of the computer model and most them become expensive wall paper because computer can generate complicate drawinging that beyond human comprehension.
On the other hand, the enterprise maps are the original creation by human, these drawing serve as the imput to the computer model rather than the out of the computer model. It is a collaborative effort by human rather the product of computer logic. Therefore, the Enterprise map requires laborious and iterative effort. As shown on the colums of the enterprise map framework.
1. Archeology - looks for what already be documented in the organization.
2. Strawman - Architect do their homework to prepare the straw man version of the enterprise map base on the the architect perception.
3. Collaboration Display and present the straw man version for comments in public area. Most of the comments comes from the public display in the hall way by ordinary people rather from a presentation or a meeting by the managers.
4. Reconciliation This is the stage to settle the difference. In the collaborative stagy, there are alway some conflict information by different people from different perception. The may talk about the same thing with differnet terminalogy or the the different thing whith the same words.
5. Buy-inThe is the stage for ever one to find a place for themself on the one paget enterprise map and agree uppon their enviroment and interaction. ^ TOP
